Toxic Waste Candy Review 8/10

If there’s something I wish there was more of in the candy world, it would be creative packaging and more of an emphasis on the “experience.” Yes, eating a Reese’s peanut butter cup is delicious, and I wouldn’t turn it down, but I think there’s been too much of a detach from the novelty. Maybe it’s old school, but I think there’s a lot to be said about nostalgia candy, because I appreciate the way things used to be done.

All of this said, I was extremely excited to review some products from Toxic Waste Candy, because they represent what I’d like to see more of, with the “experience.” The whole notion of sour candy, the toxic waste barrel, and sticking to the theme is something I can get behind.

Because they sent me a few different items, I’m going to review them one by one.

First off was the toxic waste slime licker, sour rolling liquid candy. This candy can best be described as resembling a roll on deodorant in how it works. To be honest, it’s less of an analogy and more of a pure definition, because the container appears to be the same as a roll on deodorant. The only problem this can pose is that it might be hard to continue getting the liquid out when the amount left starts to run out. Aside from that, I really like the flavors, both Blue Razz and Strawberry.

Blue Razz is hard to describe as anything other than the name – blue razz. It has a distinct taste that you would recognize if you tried it. Strawberry was less sour, and more plain strawberry, but almost a weak flavor. I don’t mean that in a bad way, because in the end I was happy with both flavors.

Next up was the Sour Smog Balls. These candies, as the package describes, are crunchy on the outside, sour on the inside. The best way I can explain them is that they’re, in both taste and consistency, very similar to smarties (except the sour part). I really like the sour part, so in my opinion these are just spherical smarties with a sour twist, and are all around better.

Now to the goop gum. I want to emphasize how much I like the novelty behind candy again, because this gum really puts the effort in. With each piece being the shape of a toxic waste barrel, containing a green (toxic waste resembling) liquid, I can’t help but admire the creativity and effort. I was expecting the gum to be sour, but it ended up being a lot more sour than I anticipated. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you should be ready for it. Then the taste, which can most accurately be described as similar to juicy fruit, is just great.

Finally, there’s the toxic waste sour candy. I almost feel bad keeping it short with the description, but I feel like all I have to say is that it’s an improved form of warheads. In taste, sourness, and packaging, all around just better.

HyperPS Bluetooth Speaker 8/10

I’ve reviewed a lot of bluetooth speakers at this point, and if I’ve realized anything it’s that there are plenty of variations in the price and quality available. Thankfully, these usually go hand in hand either with a high price and high quality, or low price and (expected) lower quality. There are certainly some situations where you pay a lot expecting a lot and end up let down, or buy cheap speakers that end up not working at all. I’m happy to say these speakers fall into neither quality.

Low price, and somewhat low quality. If that seems unacceptable I’m not sure what to tell you; at this point I basically live by ‘you get what you pay for.’ That being said, these ~$13 speakers sound about how you would expect ~$13 speakers to sound (maybe a little better).

If you’re buying these to provide sound for a somewhat small area, say if you’re going to the beach and don’t want to bother others, these speakers are great. And as far as I’m concerned, if they do that at their price it’s more than worth the cost.

With some pretty cool LED light features and a metal exterior that certainly doesn’t come off as cheap, it’s better than a lot of other speakers you’ll find at the price.

You can find them for sale on Amazon here.

These speakers were sent to me for free in return for an unbiased review.

InnoLife Running Belt 8.5/10

As somebody who has been running for about 3 years now, and somebody who can’t run without music, I can fully sympathize with the struggle of figuring out how to carry your phone and arrange your headphones for when you do run.

At first I tried keeping my phone in my pocket, but with loose enough pockets my phone would tend to fly out. Even with smaller pockets, the constant shifting of the phone would make it nearly impossible to track my runs with Nike+ because it threw the whole system off.

I tried using an armband, and while it works for some, it just wasn’t right for me. It didn’t fit right, it was uncomfortable, I just didn’t like it. So I started running with my phone in my hand, and while it threw off my form, and got my phone wet when I got excessively sweaty, at least it worked.

Holding my phone in my hand while running was good enough, but not preferable, so I was very open to any other possibilities. Thankfully, I’ve finally discovered an alternative – the running belt.

LotFancy Backup Car Monitor 9/10

I drive a car without most of the add-ons that seem to have become standard in the auto industry. That’s not a complaint, but rather an observation, because the way I look at it, this just gives me a chance to add what I want to my car the way I want to.

And over time I’ve done just that. From complex tasks like adding an auxiliary input for my iPod, to things as simple as a suction GPS mount, I’ve been able to change my car in a way I like. That being said, when given an opportunity to test out a color monitor for my backup camera, I was very excited.

Just as a warning, before doing anything to a car you should do your research. Look up everything that needs to be done, how it needs to be done, and what you need to do it. Even then, you might be better off having somebody help you out.

LotFancy 7-Port USB Charger 8.5/10

Very recently I reviewed a multi-port USB charger that I was incredibly disappointed with (to say the least). It seemed to cost too much for what it did, its design was less than optimal as far as tangled wires are concerned, and the charge speed seemed somewhat slow.

I knew there were a lot of options for these types of products, so when given an opportunity to review a 7-port charger from LotFancy i was hopeful that I would find a model that met my expectations.

Luckily, this time I wasn’t let down.

First, being a thin vertical block, this charger made it a lot easier to organize wires and made everything seem less cluttered. I’m not going to lie and say the wires aren’t noticeable at all, but there’s more of a chance to do things like wrap the wires around the charger. Until I find one of these chargers that has a compartment to hide the wires entirely, I’m willing to accept that it might look somewhat tangled regardless.

LotFancy Bluetooth Headphones Review 8/10

I love going for long runs, but I’m unable to do so without something to listen to. Whether it’s music or a podcast (which I’ve gotten more into lately) it makes the run go by a whole lot quicker.

It seems like an easy enough solution, listening to music through headphones, but unfortunately it hasn’t always seemed that easy.

My first issue was that I couldn’t find headphones that would stay in my ear (think original iPod headphones) but that all changed when I discovered the rubber earpieces that allowed them to stay in a lot easier.

With headphones that stayed securely in my ears, I ran into my next problem of restrictive cords that were too short and easily yanked the earbuds out of my ears. That issue was soon addressed, but left me with my newest problem – water damage.

I sweat a lot, and I noticed that headphones would stop working after a few weeks and could never figure out why until I pieced it all together. Fortunately I was able to find waterproof headphones, unfortunately the only pair I found reliable has a short cord.

While the headphones I’m reviewing today solved the first two issues I mentioned, the one thing holding them back is not being waterproof. But since they’re not sold specifically as workout headphones, I’m not going to let that effect my review.

I’m now realizing I haven’t even mentioned the product itself yet. So with all of that, today I’ll be reviewing the LotFancy Bluetooth headphones.

LotFancy Blood Pressure Monitor 7/10

Without getting too deep into detail, I’ve found myself in a few situations where a blood pressure monitor has been very useful. More than that, it has meant the difference between life and death.

I look at blood pressure monitors as the sort of thing that people never think to have, but it’s a very good thing to own just in case. It can be the difference between knowing if somebody is extremely sick, or just passing it off as them feeling weird.

So when I was given the opportunity to review a blood pressure monitor from LotFancy, I was more than happy to do so.

While I like the idea of this monitor, the inaccuracy is preventing me from giving it a good rating.
