Deano’s Jalapeño Chips (8/10)

Summer is coming to a close, and fall is slowly approaching. Rather than a change of seasons however, I also see this as a transition from traditional summer time foods to new much more different often time “exotic” types of snack. So where better to start than with a Jalapeño alternative to the popular potato chip.

jalapeño chips

Starting out with the packaging (of course) this one strikes me as “just right.” It’s a great fit for what it is and its contents, with a sleek slightly more unconventional design. It isn’t what this package has that makes it great, it’s what it stylishly leaves out.

Now to the taste, which is of course what this is essentially about. I think the most important thing to know about these chips are that they are not for the faint of tongue so to speak. Aside from that they give away the natural jalapeño taste you would expect and maintains it nicely. With each flavor you get a little more of a “masking,” he sea salt flavor allows for the most natural same taste, while ranch  adds a twist to that and the cheddar flavor turns it more into a different snack altogether.

Aside from the warning about the heat these can pack, something that really stands out about these is the crunch they’re able to maintain. Because of all these factors, these chips definitely deserve the (8/10).
